Description
Vibramycin 100mg Capsule
Doxycycline is an antibiotic drug that kills a wide, weird and wonderful range of bugs that are often difficult to treat with other antibiotics. These include bacteria and parasites that take up residence inside our cells (called “intracellular organisms”), making them hard for most antibiotics to reach.
Doxycycline medication is used to treat a wide variety of bacterial infections, including those that cause acne. This medication is also used to prevent malaria. This medication is known as a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria.
Adults. When treating less serious infections in adults, doctors will prescribe 100 mg of doxycycline twice a day on the first day, followed by 100 mg once a day. If the infection is severe or life threatening, the doctor will prescribe 100 mg twice a day.
Uses
This drug is used for the treatment of respiratory, skin and soft tissue, and urinary tract infections.
Side Effects
As a side effect, this drug can cause GI upset, inflammation of oesophagus, esophageal ulcers, allergy, rash, photosensitivity, liver dysfunction, blood disorders, anxiety, headache, hypertension, dry mouth, back pain, and superinfections. There are also reports of serious skin infections, tooth discoloration, and enamel hypoplasia.
When Not to Use
Doxycycline stops the bacteria from producing essential proteins, thereby stopping them from reproducing or growing any further.
