This Injection ceftriaxone is dissolved in 10 ml of water for injections PhEur. This should be administered over 5 minutes, directly into the vein or via the tubing of an intravenous infusion.

Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin (SEF a low spor in) antibiotic. It works by fighting bacteria in your body. Ceftriaxone is used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms such as meningitis.

Fetroja (cefiderocol) and Rocephin (ceftriaxone sodium) for Injection are cephalosporin antibiotics used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs).

When Not to Use?

  • Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have beta-lactams (antibiotic) allergy
  • hypoalbuminemia (decreased protein)
  • acidosis (increased level of acid in the body)
  • hyper-bilirubinaemia (increased bilirubin).

INDICATIONS

This is recommended for serious respiratory and genitourinary (urinary and genital system) joints, bone abdominal infections as well as sepsis (life-risky condition due to infections) and meningitis (inflammation of meninges).


Contraindications Of Rocephin Injection IV 1gm 1Vial

  • This medicine is contraindicated for those who are hypersensitive to beta-lactam medications or in premature newborns who are more than 41 days postmenstrual time and neonates with more than 41 weeks postmenstrual with jaundice (a condition characterized by yellow discoloration of the skin.
  • Eyes and mucous membranes) or hypoalbuminemia (low levels of albumin) also known as acidosis (too excessive acidity in the body) and in conjunction with treatment with IV calcium (including the total parenteral diet containing calcium) in infants who are more than 41 weeks postmenstrual – possibility of precipitation of the lung tissue and urine. It is not recommended to use in hyperbilirubinemia (high levels of bilirubin) neonates.

How To Use?

  • This medication is typically administered at least once daily through injection into a muscle or vein according to the advice of your physician. The dosage is determined based on the symptoms you experience and your reaction to treatment. If your doctor has told you otherwise, you should drink plenty of fluids while you are taking the medication.
  • Use this antibiotic regularly to get the most effective results. You should take the medicine at the exact time(s) every day to aid in remembering.
  • This medication is administered via injection or infusion only.
  • Contact prescriber if there is burning/swelling/redness/pain at injection or infusion or if there is rash, hives, itching, difficulty in breathing or swallowing, unrelieved diarrhea (watery stools), vaginal drainage or itching, mouth sores, blood, pus or mucus in stools or urine, easy bruising or bleeding, unusual chills or fever.
  • Stools that are bloody or watery may occur for 2 or more months following therapy and could be severe and require prompt treatment.
  • Consume enough fluids (2-3 Liters per day) to ensure hydration in the event that you are not restricted by your physician.
  • Even if the symptoms fade after a couple of days, you should continue taking the medicine for the entire time period recommended by your physician. Doing so too quickly could cause the condition to return. If the problem persists or gets worse, consult your physician.

  • glucosuria (excretion of glucose in the urine)
  • oliguria (excretion of a small amount of urine)
  • hematuria (blood in urine)
  • urinary and biliary problems
