Fefol SP Capsule 150mg 56’s

Fefol SP Capsule 150mg 56’s is used to prevent or treat iron deficiency anaemia and to prevent folic acid deficiency during pregnancy. Do not take Fefol SP Capsule 150mg 56’s and tell your doctor if you: are allergic (hypersensitive) to the active substances, iron salts, or any of the other ingredients of Fefol SP Capsule 150mg 56’s

Ferrous salt/folic acid is a supplement used to prevent iron deficiency and folic acid deficiency during pregnancy. It can also be used to treat iron deficiency anemia. It is a fixed dose combination of ferrous salt and folic acid. It is taken by mouth.

Side effects may include dark stools, constipation, and abdominal pain. Caution is advised in people with hemochromatosis. Excessive use in children can cause serious problems.

Ferrous salt/folic acid was approved for medical use in the United States as early as 1946. It is on the World Health Organization’s List of Essential Medicines. It is not currently commercially available as a combination in the United States.

Uses

Fefol SP Capsule 150mg 56’s is used as a prophylaxis (prevention) in iron or folic acid deficiencies.

 

Side Effects

Fefol SP Capsule 150mg 56’s side effects are GI upset (digestive tract discomfort), dark stool and epigastric pain (pain in the upper
abdomen)

When Not To Use

Fefol SP Capsule 150mg 56’s use is prohibited in the following conditions: diverticular disease (small sacs formation in the wall of the large intestine), intestinal obstruction ( blockage in the intestine that hinders food and fluids to pass further in the digestive tract), hemochromatosis ( a condition where the body absorbs iron more than required), haemosiderosis ( iron overload in body organs), hemolytic anemia (a condition with a higher rate of blood cell destruction than its production in the body), red cell aplasia (dysfunctioned red cells), and repeated blood transfusion
