Andrex 40mg capsule
Testosterone undecanoate medication is used by men who have low or no testosterone due to certain medical conditions (such as hypogonadism). Testosterone belongs to a class of drugs known as androgens. It helps the body to develop and maintain male sexual characteristics (masculinity), such as a deep voice and body hair.
Based on one source, Testosterone undecanoate in castor oil (for intramuscular injection) has a half life of 33.9 days, allowing it to maintain serum levels in the normal range for over 6 weeks. It should be noted that the half life of testosterone reported in the literature is inconsistent.
This medication is used in men who do not make enough testosterone (a naturally occurring substance necessary for masculinity and male sexual characteristics). It is also used in certain adolescent boys to cause puberty in those with delayed puberty.
Nausea, vomiting, headache, skin color changes, increased/decreased sexual interest, oily skin, hair loss, and acne may occur. Pain or redness at the injection site may also occur. Breast swelling/tenderness, mental/mood changes (such as depression), unusual snoring or difficulty breathing during sleep, swelling of hands/ankles/feet, symptoms of liver problems (such as loss of appetite, persistent nausea/vomiting, severe stomach/abdominal pain, yellowing eyes/skin, dark urine) can also occur as well as unusual sweating, confusion, sudden dizziness/fainting, pain/swelling/warmth in the groin/calf, sudden/severe headaches, trouble speaking, weakness on one side of the body or sudden vision changes. A doctor should be consulted right away if any of these side effects are present.
When Not To Use
This medication should not be used in women. It should also not be used in men with cancer of the male breast, hypercalcemia(high level of calcium in blood) or impaired liver function.
