Peflacine Infusion 125mlxVial is indicated for the treatment of single or mixed infections caused by two or more susceptible organisms. It can also be used for infections caused by organisms resistant to other antibiotics including aminoglycoside, penicillin and cephalosporin. Peflacine Infusion 125mlxVial is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is active against both Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. It functions by inhibiting DNA gyrase, a type II topoisomerase, and topoisomerase IV, which is an enzyme necessary to separate, replicated DNA, thereby inhibiting cell division.
The bactericidal action of pefloxacin results from interference with the activity of the bacterial enzymes DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, which are needed for the transcription and replication of bacterial DNA. DNA gyrase appears to be the primary quinolone target for gram-negative bacteria. Topoisomerase IV appears to be the preferential target in gram-positive organisms. Interference with these two topoisomerases results in strand breakage of the bacterial chromosome, supercoiling, and resealing. As a result DNA replication and transcription is inhibited.
Peflacine Infusion 125mlxVial is used in the treatment of various infections caused by gram-negative bacteria and Staphylococci strains.

When Not To Use
Peflacine Infusion 125mlxVial is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Peflacine 400mg Tablets , any other fluoroquinolones, or any other inactive ingredients present along with it.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known history of tendon rupture or tendinitis (a condition in which the tissue connecting muscles to the bones becomes inflamed) due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
