Description
ZOLOFT Tab 50mg 30’s
ZOLOFT Tab 50mg 30’s is used to treat depression, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, and a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual dysphoric disorder).
Sertraline is used for a number of conditions, including major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, body dysmorphic disorder, posttraumatic stress disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, panic disorder, and social anxiety disorder. It has also been used for premature ejaculation and vascular headaches but evidence of its effectiveness in treating those conditions is not robust. Sertraline is not approved for use in children except for those with OCD.
Sertraline is effective for the treatment of OCD in adults and children. It was better tolerated and, based on intention-to-treat analysis, performed better than the gold standard of OCD treatment clomipramine. It is generally accepted that the sertraline dosages necessary for the effective treatment of OCD are higher than the usual dosage for depression. The onset of action is also slower for OCD than for depression.
Uses
This medication is used for the treatment and prevention of depression including accompanying anxiety.
Side Effects
Some patients might experience an upset stomach, anorexia (eating disorder), sexual problems, tremor (unintentional muscle movement), increased sweating, pharyngitis (inflammation of the throat), nightmares, agitation, bruxism (teeth grinding), tinnitus (ringing in the ear), palpitations (increased heartbeat), insomnia, malaise (feeling ill), myalgia (muscle pain), rash, urinary retention (unable to urinate), seizures or psychosis. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.
When Not To Use
Patients with severe hepatic(liver) impairment or with unstable epilepsy (seizures ) should not use this medication. It should also not be used in patients who have only stopped using MAOIs(another type of anti-depression medications ) in the last 2 weeks or those who have only stopped moclobemide(another type of anti-depression medications) in the last week.
