Xeticam 250mg Tablet

Xeticam 250mg Tablet (Levetiracetam) is an analogue of piracetam. The chemical name of Xeticam 250mg Tablet, a single enantiomer, is (−)-(S)-α-ethyl-2-oxo-1-pyrrolidineacetamide.Xeticam 250mg Tablet molecular formula is C8H14N2O2. Renal impairment The administration of Xeticam 250mg Tablet to patients with renal impairment may require dose adjustment. In patients with severely impaired hepatic function, assessment of renal function is recommended before dose selection. Acute kidney injury The use of Xeticam 250mg Tablet has been very rarely associated with acute kidney injury, with a time to onset ranging from a few days to several months. Blood cell counts Rare cases of decreased blood cell counts (neutropenia, agranulocytosis, leucopenia, thrombocytopenia and pancytopenia) have been described in association with Xeticam 250mg Tablet administration, generally at the beginning of the treatment. Complete blood cell counts are advised in patients experiencing significant weakness, pyrexia, recurrent infections or coagulation disorders.

Probenecid Renal clearance of ucb L057 in the presence of probenecid decreased 60%, probably related to competitive inhibition of tubular secretion of ucb. Methotrexate Concomitant administration of levetiracetam and methotrexate has been reported to decrease methotrexate clearance, resulting in increased/prolonged blood methotrexate concentration to potentially toxic levels.

Uses

In the treatment of partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalization in adults and adolescents from 16 years of age with newly diagnosed epilepsy. Adjunctive Therapy: • in the treatment of partial onset seizures with or without secondary generalization in adults, adolescents  • in the treatment of myoclonic seizures in adults and adolescents from 12 years of age with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy.

 Side effect :

Nasopharyngitis, somnolence and headache,  Anorexia, depression, hostility/aggression, anxiety, insomnia, nervousness/irritability, convulsion, balance disorder, dizziness, lethargy, tremor, vertigo, cough, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, vomiting, nausea, rash and asthenia/fatigue.

When not use :

Xeticam 250mg Tablet is containdiacted in patients who are hypersensitive to the active substance or other pyrrolidone derivatives or to any excipient of the product.
