Description

Solu Medrol 1gm injection

This medication is used to treat conditions such as arthritis, blood disorders, severe allergic reactions, certain cancers, eye conditions, skin/kidney/intestinal/lung diseases, and immune system disorders.
Methylprednisolone is used to treat many different inflammatory conditions such as arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, ulcerative colitis, allergic disorders, gland (endocrine) disorders, and conditions that affect the skin, eyes, lungs, stomach, nervous system, or blood cells.
As with most drugs, the generic versions cost less but still comprise the same substances. Methylprednisolone is stronger than prednisone: prednisone is four times as potent as cortisol, a steroid hormone that is present in the body. methylprednisolone is five times as potent as cortisol.
It relieves inflammation (swelling, heat, redness, and pain) and is used to treat certain forms of arthritis; skin, blood, kidney, eye, thyroid, and intestinal disorders (e.g., colitis); severe allergies; and asthma. Methylprednisolone is also used to treat certain types of cancer.
Uses

This medication is indicated in patients with corticosteriod conditions such as hay fever, asthma, rhematoid arthritis (autoimmune disease), collagen diseases, dermatoses (skin defect).

Side Effects

Patient administered with this medication may experience menstrual problems, adrenal suppression, growth suppression in children, increased severity of infection, hypertension (increased blood pressure), negative protein, nitrogen and calcium balance. tendon rupture, fractures. Impaired Wound healing, sweating, hirsutism (excessive growth of hair), acne, GI disturbance, psychiatric effects, insomnia (inability to sleep), weight gain, increased appetite, ocular disturbances.

When Not to Use

Before using hydrocortisone, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. Systemic fungal infections. Head injury, stroke. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
