Description

Sivab 5mg Tablet

Sivab 5mg Tablet (Ivabradine) is a heart rate lowering agent which acts by selective inhibition of the cardiac pacemaker If current. Chemically, Sivab 5mg Tablet is 3-(3-{[((7S)-3,4-Dimethoxybicyclo[4,2,0] octa-1,3,5-trien-7-yl]methyl]methylamino}propyl)-1,3,4,5-tetrahydro7,8-dimethoxy-2H-3-benzazepin-2-one hydrochloride. Sivab 5mg Tablet molecular formula is C27H36N2O5.HCl. Cardiac arrhythmias: Sivab 5mg Tablet is not recommended in patients with atrial fibrillation or other cardiac arrhythmias that interfere with sinus node function. Concomitant use with Cytochrome P450 3A4 (CYP3A4) inhibitor or inducers: CYP3A4 inhibitors increase Sivab 5mg Tablet plasma concentrations, while inducers decrease them. Increased plasma concentrations of Sivab 5mg Tablet may be associated with a risk of excessive bradycardia. – Moderate CYP3A4 inhibitors (e.g. diltiazem, verapamil) with heart rate reducing properties: Concomitant use of ivabradine with diltiazem and verapamil is not recommended due to the potential for additive heart rate lowering effects

Uses

This medcine is indicated in chronic stable angina (consistent duration and severity of brief episodes of pain, pressure, squeezing and tightness in chest), coronary artery disease (narrowing or blockage of arteries of heart muscles) with normal sinus rhythm (normal heart rate) who have a contraindication or intolerance to beta blockers when monotherapy is inadequate and heart rate is more than 60 beats per minute.  It is also used in patients with stable chronic heart failure, with systolic dysfunction (impairment in contraction of ventricles).

Side effect :

ts side effects include blurred vision, bradycardia (slow heart rate), 1st degree AV block (when there is a delay in conduction), ventricular extrasystole (premature contraction of ventricles), blood pressure changes, dizziness, headache etc

When not use :

It is contraindicated in patients with pretreatment heart rate less than 60 beats per minute, persistent symptoms of bradycardia (very low heart rate) or if heart rate is persistently below 50 beats per minute, cardiogenic shock (a condition in which heart suddenly fails to pump enough blood to meet your  body’s requirement), acute myocardial infarction .
