Seroxat Tablets 20mg 10’s is used to treat depression, panic attacks, anxiety disorders, and a severe form of premenstrual syndrome (premenstrual dysphoric disorder). It works by helping to restore the balance of a certain natural substance (serotonin) in the brain.

Uses

This medication is indicated in patients with all types of depressive illness, depression accompanied with anxiety, OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder), Panic disorders, social phobia, premenstrual dysphoric disorder (disorder involving sadness after menstruation) and Post-traumatic stress disorder (stress disorder after trauma).

Paroxetine is primarily used to treat major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, social anxiety disorder, and panic disorder. It is also occasionally used for agoraphobia, generalized anxiety disorder, premenstrual dysphoric disorder and menopausal hot flashes.

Side Effects

The patient taking this medication may experience Gastrointestinal disturbances, decreased appetite, somnolence (sleepiness), sweating, tremor, dry mouth, blurred vision, weight gain, agitation, elevated cholesterol levels and impaired concentration.
Common side effects include drowsiness, dry mouth, loss of appetite, sweating, trouble sleeping, and sexual dysfunction.Serious side effects may include suicide in those under the age of 25, serotonin syndrome, and mania. While rate of side effects appear similar compared to other SSRIs and SNRIs, antidepressant discontinuation syndromes may occur more often.Use in pregnancy is not recommended while use during breastfeeding is relatively safe.

When Not To Use
