Ceftriaxone is a cephalosporin (SEF a low spor in) antibiotic. It works by fighting bacteria in your body. Ceftriaxone is used to treat many kinds of bacterial infections, including severe or life-threatening forms such as meningitis. Fetroja (cefiderocol) and Rocephin (ceftriaxone sodium) for Injection are cephalosporin antibiotics used to treat urinary tract infections (UTIs).

Uses

This medicine is used in lung infections, urinary tract infections, bone and joint infections, sepsis (blood infection) and meningitis (inflammation of the membrane covering brain).

Side Effects

This medicine may cause stomach upset, collitis (inflammation of colon), skin reactions, blood problems, increased liver enzymes, bronchospasm (lung disease), phlebitis (inflammation of vein) at injection site, pancreatitis (inflammation of pancreas), glucosuria (excretion of glucose in urine), oliguria (excretion of small amount of urine), hematuria (bloody in urine), urinary and biliary problems. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

When Not to Use

Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have beta-lactams (antibiotic) allergy, hypoalbuminemia (decreased protein), acidosis (increased level of acid in body) or hyper-bilirubinaemia (increased bilirubin).
