Description
Rivotril Drops 0.25% 10ml
Clonazepam works by increasing levels of a calming chemical in your brain. This can relieve anxiety, stop seizures and fits or relax tense muscles. The most common side effect is feeling sleepy (drowsy) during the daytime.
The dose shouldn’t be more than 0.05 mg/kg per day given in two to three divided doses. Dose increases: A doctor may increase a child’s dose by 0.25 to 0.5 mg every three days until their seizures are controlled. Maximum dose: 0.1–0.2 mg/kg per day taken in divided doses.
Clonazepam (Klonopin) is highly effective in the treatment of REM sleep behavior disorder (RBD), relieving symptoms in nearly 90% of patients with little evidence of tolerance or abuse. The response usually begins within the first week, often on the first night.
Uses
Clonazepam is used to prevent and control seizures. This medication is known as an anticonvulsant or antiepileptic drug. It is also used to treat panic attacks. Clonazepam works by calming your brain and nerves. It belongs to a class of drugs called benzodiazepines.
Side Effects
Patients using clonazepam may at times experience fatigue, muscle weakness, dizziness, and light headaches. If you experience any of these symptoms for a long period of time, please consult your doctor.
When Not to Use
Clonazepam should be avoided in patients with acute pulmonary insufficiency , respiratory depression (decreased breathing) , sleep apnea (sleep disorder in which breathing is interrupted).
