Description

Novalgin 5 ml Injection

Novalgin 5 ml Injection is used in the treatment of pain caused by a toothache, headache, arthralgia (joint pain), neuralgia (nerve pain), myalgia (muscle pain), colicky pain, and severe pain after surgeries, traumas (injuries), etc. It is used if oral administration is not suitable.

Novalgin 5 ml Injection belongs to a group of fever-reducing painkillers called NSAIDs and is administered in the form of an injection. The active ingredient in Novalgin is metamizole (metamizol sodium monohydrate). A 5-ml injection contains 2500 mg of metamizol sodium monohydrate.

You should be lying down when the injection is given. Do not inject more than 1 ml per minute. Be sure to monitor blood pressure, heart rate and breathing during administration. Allow the fluid to come to room temperature prior to injecting it. Novalgin may cause a red colouration of the urine. Despite its alarming appearance, this red urine is not serious and will disappear once the treatment is over.

Side Effects

Side effects of Novalgin 5 ml Injection can include increase in heart rate, Nausea and Vomiting, Stomach pain, Difficulty in swallowing, Dry mouth, Dizziness and Drowsiness, Headache, Skin rash, Itching , Pain at the injection site

 

When Not To Use

Novalgin 5 ml Injection is not recommended for use if you have a known allergy to analgin, suffering from blood disorders such as aplastic anemia, leucopenia, and agranulocytosis.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with severe liver impairment, renal impairment, patients with bronchial asthma due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with hereditary hemolytic anemia associated with a deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
