NO-SPA 40mg-2ml injection (INN, also known as drotaverin) is an antispasmodic drug, used to enhance cervical dilation during childbirth. NO-SPA 40mg-2ml injection is structurally related to papaverine, is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase 4, and has no anticholinergic effects. It is an effective medicine to treat spasms or twitches of the smooth muscles in the stomach and heart. It is used to relieve pain caused due to irritable bowel syndrome, headache, and menstrual periods, and is also used to relieve cervical spasms during labour.

No spa Injection is used for Functional bowel disorders, Pain caused by renal stones, Pain caused by ureteric stones and other conditions. No spa Injection may also be used for purposes not listed in this medication guide.
No spa Injection contains Drotaverine Hydrochloride as an active ingredient. It works by changing the distribution of calcium by reducing the calcium uptake.

NO-SPA 40mg-2ml injection indications are smooth muscle spasms connected with diseases of biliary origin. On the other hand, Cholecystolithiasis, cholangiolithiasis, cholecystitis. Pericholecystitis, cholangitis papillitis. In addition, Smooth muscle spasms of the urinary tract. Moreover, Nephrolithiasis, ureterolithiasis, pyelitis, cystitis, cramps of urinary bladder.

Uses

It is used in the control and prevention of pain and dysfunction caused by smooth muscle spasm.

Side Effects

It can include constipation, a transient decrease in heart rate, decreased lung secretions, urinary urgency and retention, dilation of pupils with loss of accommodation, extreme sensitivity to light, dry mouth, flushing, and dryness of skin. Occasionally, confusion in elderly, nausea, vomiting, giddiness, and angle-closure glaucoma can occur.

When Not To Use

NO-SPA 40mg-2ml injection is not to be given in Myasthenia Gravis, paralytic ileus (paralysis of intestinal muscles), pyloric stenosis (narrow opening of stomach), toxic megacolon (acute distention of colon), and enlarged prostate.  Meanwhile, Store below 25 C.
