Nexum Iv 40mg Injection
Nexum Iv 40mg Injection are an enteric-coated pellet formulation of esomeprazole magnesium due to its acid labile nature. Nexum Iv 40mg Injection is the S-isomer of omeprazole, which is mixture of the S- and R- isomers which inhibits gastric acid secretion more effectively than omeprazole. Chemically Nexum Iv 40mg Injection is bis(5-methoxy-2-[(S)-[(4-methoxy-3, 5-dimethyl-2-pyridinyl)methyl]sulfinyl]- 1H-benzimidazole-1-yl) magnesium trihydrate. Nexum Iv 40mg Injection molecular formula is (C17H18N3O3S)2Mg x 3H2 O. It is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid
General – Symptomatic response to therapy with Nexum Iv 40mg Injection does not preclude the presence of gastric malignancy. – Atrophic gastritis has been noted occasionally in gastric corpus biopsies from patients treated long-term with omeprazole, of which esomeprazole is an enantiomer. – Proton pump Inhibitor may be associated with an increased risk of Clostridium difficile associated diarrhea, especially in hospitalized patients. – Proton pump inhibitor (PPI) therapy may be associated with an increased risk for osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, or spine. Patients should use the lowest dose and shortest duration of PPI therapy appropriate to the condition being treated. – For patients expected to be on prolonged treatment or who take PPIs with medications such as digoxin or drugs that may cause hypomagnesemia (e.g., diuretics), monitoring magnesium levels prior to initiation of PPI treatment and periodically is required.
– Co-administration of atazanavir with proton pump inhibitors is expected to substantially decrease atazanavir plasma concentrations and may result in a loss of therapeutic effect and the development of drug resistance.
It is used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) and other conditions involving excessive stomach acid such as Zollinger-Ellison syndrome. Esomeprazole is also used to promote healing of erosive esophagitis
It can cause headache, flatulance, dry mouth, abdominal pain, diarrhea etc.
When not use
Hypersensitivity to esomeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors .
