Minidiab 5mg tablet

Glipizide is used along with diet and exercise, and sometimes with other medications, to treat type 2 diabetes (condition in which the body does not use insulin normally and, therefore, cannot control the amount of sugar in the blood). Glipizide is in a class of medications called sulfonylureas.

Glipizide is a prescription drug. It comes as an oral immediate-release tablet and oral extended-release tablet. Glipizide oral tablet is available as the brand-name drugs Glucotrol and Glucotrol XL. It’s also available as a generic drug. Generic drugs usually cost less. In some cases, they may not be available in every strength or form as the brand.

Uses

Glipizide is used with a proper diet and exercise program to control high blood sugar in people with type 2 diabetes. It may also be used with other diabetes medications. Controlling high blood sugar helps prevent kidney damage, blindness, nerve problems, loss of limbs, and sexual function problems. Proper control of diabetes may also lessen your risk of a heart attack or stroke. Glipizide belongs to the class of drugs known as sulfonylureas. It lowers blood sugar by causing the release of your body’s natural insulin.

Side Effects

Some patients might experience Hypoglycaemia and stomach upset. Please consult your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

When Not to Use

Please consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you have any of these conditions; ketoacidosis (diabetes complication), diabetic coma (diabetes complication), severe renal or hepatic impairment (kidney or liver disorder).
