Description
Lyrica Cap 75mg 14’s
Pregabalin’s use in cancer-associated neuropathic pain is controversial though such use is common. There is no evidence for its use in the prevention of migraines and gabapentin has also been found not to be useful. It has been examined for the prevention of post-surgical chronic pain, but its utility for this purpose is controversial.
Pregabalin is generally not regarded as efficacious in the treatment of acute pain. In trials examining the utility of pregabalin for the treatment of acute post-surgical pain, no effect on overall pain levels was observed, but people did require less morphine and had fewer opioid-related side effects. Several possible mechanisms for pain improvement have been discussed. Pregabalin is moderately effective and is safe for the treatment of generalized anxiety disorder.
Uses
This medicine is used to treat neuropathic pain which is caused by damage to the somatosensory nervous system associated with abnormal sensations or pain. Can also be used as an adjunctive treatment to treat partial seizure and anxiety.
Side Effects
The side-effects are dry mouth, constipation, nausea, vomiting, edema, flatulence (accumulation of gas in the alimentary canal), dizziness, drowsiness, insomnia, sedation, disorientation, lack of sexual desire, tremor, speech disorder, dry mouth, gastrointestinal upset, muscle pain, back and limb pain, muscle cramps, cervical spasm, irritability, attention disturbances, memory impairment, confusion, fatigue, appetite changes, weight gain, visual and ocular disturbances, renal failure, and angioedema.
When Not To Use
This medication is contraindicated in patients with specific allergies.
