Lipiget Ez 10 plus 10MG Tablet (Atorvastatin + Ezetimibe) is a synthetic lipid-lowering agent. Lipiget Ez 10 plus 10MG Tablet is an inhibitor of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase. This enzyme catalyzes the conversion of HMG-CoA to mevalonate, an early and rate-limiting step in cholesterol biosynthesis. Chemically,Lipiget Ez 10 plus 10MG Tablet is [R-(R*, R*)]-2-(4-fluorophenyl)-ß, δ-dihydroxy5- (1-methylethyl)-3-phenyl-4[(phenylamino)carbonyl]-1H-pyrrole-1 heptanoic acid, calcium salt (2:1) trihydrate. The molecular formula is (C33H34 FN2O5)2Ca•3H2O.Lipiget Ez 10 plus 10MG Tablet is a selective, competitive inhibitor of HMG-CoA reductase, the rate limiting enzyme responsible for the conversion of 3-hydroxy-3-methyl-glutaryl-coenzyme A to mevalonate, a precursor of sterols including cholesterol. General Before instituting therapy with Lipiget Ez 10 plus 10MG Tablet, an attempt should be made to control hypercholesterolemia with appropriate diet, exercise, and weight reduction in obese patients, and to treat other underlying medical problems. Liver function abnormalities Liver function tests should be performed before the initiation of treatment and periodically thereafter. Patients who develop any signs or symptoms suggestive of liver injury should have liver function tests performed.

Uses

This medicine is used as an adjunct to diet in hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), heterozygous and homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (a condition in which it is difficult to remove bad cholesterol from body), mixed hyperlipidemia (genetic disorder characterized with high lipids , cholesterol and free fatty acids in blood).

 Side effects

Lipiget EZ can cause GI upset, myalgia , arthralgia (pain in joints), headache, asthenia , insomnia (difficulty in sleeping), dizziness, paraesthesia  hypoaesthesia (reduces sensation in one or more body parts), chest and back pain, pain extremities, epistaxis (bleeding from nose), muscle spasms, joint swelling, abnormal LFTs, raised creatinine kinase, ALT and CPK levels, hyperglycemia (high blood glucose), nasopharyngitis  etc. Immune mediated necrotising myopathy  is also reported.

 When not use

Lipiget Ez 10 plus 10MG Tablet is contraindicated in patients with Hepatic Impairment in active liver disease which may include unexplained persistent elevations in hepatic transaminase levels
