Cova 160mg Tablet (Valsartan) is a nonpeptide, orally active and specific angiotensin II receptor blocker acting on the AT1 receptor subtype. Valsartan is chemically described as N- (1-oxopentyl) -N-[[2’- (1H-tetrazol-5-yl) [1,1’-biphenyl] -4- yl] methyl]- L-valine. Its molecular formula is C24H29N5O3. Cova 160mg Tablet is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It is also used to improve the chance of living longer after a heart attack. In people with heart failure, it may also lower the chance of having to go to the hospital for heart failure. Valsartan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs).Cova 160mg Tablet works by relaxing blood vessels so that blood can flow more easily. Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes and  heart attacks .Indication of Cova 160mg Tablet for the treatment of hypertension to lower blood pressure: In patients not adequately controlled with monotherapy. As initial therapy in patients likely to need multiple drugs to achieve their blood pressure goals. Lowering blood pressure reduces the risk of fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events.

Uses

This medicine is indicated in treatment of Hypertension,Heart Failure,Post-Myocardial Infarction.

When not to use

It is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the drug. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to Cova tablet 160 mg 14’s. Coadministration of Aliskiren and Cova tablet 160 mg 14’s is not recommended in the elderly population with diabetes and kidney disease, with CrCl less than 60 ml/min. These patients are at a high risk of serious adverse effects if these medicines are used together.
