Artem Plus Dry Susp 60ml

Artem Plus Dry Susp 60ml is used for the treatment of malaria (intermittent or remittent diseases characterized by attacks of chills, fever, and sweating and caused by a parasitic protozoan transferred to the human bloodstream by an anopheles mosquito) in combination with other anti-malarial drugs resistant to conventional drugs.

Take artemether and lumefantrine exactly as directed. Do not take more or less of it or take it more often than prescribed by your doctor. If you have trouble swallowing the tablets, they may be crushed and mixed with 1 or 2 teaspoons of water in a clean container. Drink the mixture right away.
The other is lumefantrine, a broad-spectrum antibiotic that stays in the body for about seven days. Coartem is the most effective treatment for Plasmodium falciparum malaria, the more lethal form. Artemether is a very potent, but fast-clearing drug, which is why you take both it and lumefantrine.
High fibre foods like whole grain cereals must be avoided by malaria patients. Instead, the intake of fruits and pulses should be increased as they provide adequate nutrition. Eating fried and processed foods, junk oily and spicy foods can aggravate nausea and can disturb the digestion process in the body.

Uses

This medicine is used in the treatment of severe malaria including cerebral malaria and as a second line treatment in chloroquine resisitant falciparum malaria and this medicine is used in the treatment of malaria due to plasmodium falciparum, and resistant or mixed infections.

Side Effects

Patients using this medication may at times experience abdominal pain, anorexia (eating disorder), diarrhea, vomiting, nausea, and dizziness. If you experience any of these symptoms for a long period of time, consult your doctor immediately.

When Not To Use

This medicine should not be used in patients with history of arrhythmias (abnormal heart rhythm), bradycardia (slow heartrate), and congestive heart failure.
